CT-004 Two melodies at the same time

About this resource

For classical students this challenge is a breeze but for most other styles it's tricky. This challenge will teach your student how to think about finger positioning and fret choices and how their decisions can affect the ease of a piece. The main benefit to using this challenge is that your student will begin to think ahead and plan out which fingers they will use as well as think about how moving notes to different strings can make a piece easier to play.

CEL-01 Basic Celtic Solo Piece

About this lesson

This lesson plan will introduce your student to Celtic music using a very simple arrangement. The purpose of the lesson is to explain how a Celtic influenced solo piece is created starting from the melody. The student will learn how to embellish the melody and add bass notes. Even if your student has no interest in learning Celtic music, this lesson is a great way to help the student think about melody and harmonization.

This lesson will teach your student:

  • How to embellish a melody
  • Add bass notes to a melody
  • Use rhythm and tempo to change the feel of a piece

It's recommended the student feel confident with either finger-picking or hybrid picking before attempting this lesson.
