New lesson material: Mixolydian Mode

A new lesson plan has been added to the Lesson Materials Section on the Mixolydian Mode. Mixolydian is the fifth of seven modes and very popular with guitarists. Many blues players will use Mixolydian and it's easy to teach. Just like all the other lesson plans on modes, this one contains a movable fretboard shape and instructions how to teach it properly.

New Business Guide: Word of Mouth Marketing Strategies

A new business guide has been added to the Business Guides Section on word of mouth marketing. It covers various strategies you can use to attract new students without spending any money. Word of mouth is an extremely powerful way to spread the word if you're just starting out as a teacher or if you want to grow your business. Have a read through the guide and the examples will show you exactly how to implement the strategies and why they work.

New lesson material: Lydian mode

A new lesson plan is available on the Lydian mode. This is an interesting mode for your student to learn because of the exotic sound it creates. If your student wants to learn how to play like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, this lesson plan will help them achieve the sound.

New lesson materials: teach the Phrygian mode

Lesson plans for the third mode, Phrygian, is now available in the Lesson Materials Section. Like the other lesson plans on the modes, this one will explain everything in detail even if you don't fully understand modes yourself.

New teaching guide: Keep children interested in lessons

A new teaching guide has been added to the Teaching Guides Section to help you keep kids interested and motivated during lessons. It can be tough to teach children when they get distracted or don't pay attention so this guide will give you simple actions you can take to change this habit.

New lesson material: Dorian mode

A new lesson plan has been added to the Lesson Materials Section on the Dorian mode. This is the second guide on the modes after the Ionian guide. The rest of the guides on the modes will be available shortly. Students will love learning Dorian as it has a very versatile sound and once your student hears Dorian in action, they will begin to understand the importance of learning modes.

New lesson series on scales and modes

A new series of materials and lesson plans has been created in the Lesson Materials Section. These lesson plans will help you teach various scales as well as modes to your students. So if you have any intermediate students wanting to find out what all the fuss is over modes, head over to the SCA series and get started.

Lesson plans for all seven modes will be available very shortly. We currently have the Ionian Mode lesson available to download.

New teaching guide: TTL-02 Software to use in your lessons

A new guide has been added to the Teaching Guides Section covering a few different programs you can use to improve the quality of your lessons. Some of the software options are free which means you can get started straight away. These programs will make your job easier as they will give you different ways to explain material and allow your student to get interactive with the software which helps keep your student engaged with the material.

New lesson material: BBL-10 Songs on all six strings

A new lesson has been added to the Lesson Material Section under the BBL Beginner Book Style lessons. This lesson gives you three basic songs to give to your student to test their understanding of the notes across all six strings. Only give your student this lesson material if they have completed all the previous BBL lessons.

Be sure to check out the other BBL materials in the Lesson Materials Section. This series works extremely well with young children as it teaches them how to read music as well as only needing to focus on one note at a time.

New lesson resource: RES-09 Blank Fretboard Diagrams

A new teaching resource has been added to the Lesson Materials section under the RES series. This new resource will give you simple fretboard diagrams to use to help teach scales and modes. You can also use the diagrams to come up with exercises and tests to check your student's level of understanding and application of theory. It's a simple resource but very useful.
