PRO-02 Stevie Ray Vaughan Lead

About this lesson plan

This lesson plan will introduce your student to a few different ways Stevie Ray Vaughan would approach lead. The focus is on his influences and how they shaped his playing. Your student will learn how to incorporate ideas in to his own playing rather than merely memorize licks. The emphasis is on learning to improvise rather than linking licks together. The Teacher's Guide will help you explain the reasoning behind this to your student and why it's so important to learn.

This lesson will teach your student:

  • How to look at licks differently
  • How to incorporate ideas from licks into improvising
  • How SRV would approach lead using a few different ideas

Before attempting this lesson the student should have a good understanding of the techniques used in lead playing and have an understanding of blues in general.
