SCA-06 Phrygian Mode

About this lesson

Phrygian is the third of seven modes. It's recommended you teach the modes in order as it will make more sense to your student. After your student understands Ionian and Dorian (see related lessons) you can move on to Phrygian. This is a very exotic sounding mode and students will love it when they can improvise using it. Phrygian is used a lot in Flamenco so any students wanting to get a Spanish sound in their playing can learn this.

SCA-05 Dorian Mode

About this lesson

The Dorian mode is the second of seven modes and has a great sound. Most students will love the sound of Dorian and once they can improvise using this mode, they will start to understand why modes are so important to understand. Make sure your student fully understands the Ionian mode before learning Dorian as it's easier to teach modes starting from Ionian and working through each one.
