About this lesson plan

This lesson will show your student how they can use Open G tuning to create a great blues sound. The examples given are simple blues ideas so the student can quickly grasp the concept and come up with their own blues licks and progressions using Open G tuning. The Teacher's Guide will explain the important concepts and what the student needs to do to really bring out the blues feel with the tuning.

This lesson will teach your student:

  • How to use Open G tuning
  • A couple bluesy ideas using the slide and fingers
  • Understanding of basic music theory used with the tuning and blues

It's recommended the student has practice with a slide before attempting this lesson. Although the slide is optional, it does add to the blues feel.
