WMO-04 Chords in Lydian Mode

About this worksheet

This worksheet will cover Lydian mode - the fourth mode of the major scale. Like the other mode worksheets, this one will teach your student to harmonize the mode using diatonic triads and seventh chords. This will give your student great practice in the theory involved and will help them understand the mode. After your student fully understands the intervals, chords and notes used in each Lydian mode, they will have an easier time applying the mode in their playing.

This worksheet will help your student:

  • Understand Lydian mode
  • Figure out diatonic triads and seventh chords
  • Understand the intervals in Lydian mode

This worksheet works best when combined with a guitar lesson plan on Lydian. See the related lesson below for more Lydian resources.

A new lesson plan is available on the Lydian mode. This is an interesting mode for your student to learn because of the exotic sound it creates. If your student wants to learn how to play like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, this lesson plan will help them achieve the sound.

SCA-07 Lydian Mode

About this lesson

Lydian is an interesting mode to learn as it's the only one that alters the fourth. It's used a lot by guitarists such as Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, so if your student wants to learn that style of playing, this mode is a great one to focus on. Just like the other lessons on modes, this one included a detailed guide to help you teach it effectively.
